• Humble Beginnings.

In the chilly weather of December, 1993- Melvyn & Helen Hallett decide to bring their savoury fired warmth to the parade of Winner Street, Paignton. With a shared passion for traditional-styled baking, the married team began to offer bread and pastries to their community working in a small bakery with a big heart.

  • Word Of Mouth.

Before long, queues started forming from our shop right up the street! Cars stacked across the road all waiting in line for their favourite treat. A fresh smell of pizza and garlic bread filled the air too!

  • Wildfire.

With the coffee shop now situated to the side of the bakery we offered in-door dining, here blossomed our first haven of food lovers; creating a community for our community.

  • Growth.

When demand kept pushing higher like the bread dome rising towards to the top of the tin, owner Mel knew he had to expand. He could no longer rely on one van and a small bakery to satisfy demand

  • Moving On Up.

After owning two small bakeries it was time to seek new endeavours… a new location to produce and build. Helen homed in on her customer service skills and trained all staff in this manor, including her son’s which still remains deep within our business today.

  • Like Father, Like Son.

Around this time, second generation, Christopher Hallett saw an opportunity to help his parents by adding his expertise to the growth of the business.

  • Almost There.

With more space to fill, Chris began branching out to new customers with new ideas, more delivery routes and a can do attitude. We are now a fully functioning wholesale bakery serving Torbay, Totnes, Newton Abbot, Exeter and South Hams as a whole.
